On February 6, 2024, the Prince’s Government submitted a bill to the National Council, no. 1.089, on state medical aid.
Following on from Law no. 1.465 of December 11, 2018 on the family and social assistance, this bill establishes a new paid medical assistance scheme for nationals, regardless of residence, and for people who have been resident in the Principality for at least five years.
This text provides for the assumption of medical expenses when a person not covered by a health insurance scheme is not covered by either a private health insurance organization or the existing state medical aid scheme.
Thanks to this bill, and as a complement to traditional schemes, the State would become the insurer, without competing with private insurers.
