Niger’s population tripled between 1988 and 2021, from 7.2 to 23.6 million. This strong demographic growth is the result of a high and stable fertility rate, with almost 7 children per woman during this period.
This study aims to highlight recent levels and trends in fertility and contraceptive prevalence, as well as their main determinants. Specifically, this includes studying progress in the availability and accessibility of FP services, analyzing levels, trends and inequalities in FP use and fertility, and identifying factors influencing modern contraceptive use and fertility.
