The Council of Ministers has examined and adopted a first decree entrusting the management of universal health insurance to the Institut national d’assurance maladie (INAM) and the Caisse nationale de sécurité sociale (CNSS).
The law instituting universal health insurance in the Togolese Republic provides for the establishment of an organization to manage universal health insurance in Togo.
A previous decree entrusted INAM with this task.
According to the Togolese government spokesman, speeding up the process of making universal health insurance operational and extending the scope of insured persons requires a new architecture to be adopted, with an implementation plan that draws on the experience of both INAM and CNSS in managing social protection.
