Mali’s overall healthcare system faces budgetary and allocation inefficiencies, but the country’s drug policy and administration are also a source of technical inefficiencies.
This policy brief aims to address the following research objectives:
- Identifying budgetary and allocative inefficiencies in health sector operations in Mali ;
- Identify technical inefficiencies and inequities in the AMO drug policy alone, including provisions for drug coverage, margins and co-payments;
- Specify concrete measures to achieve efficiency gains;
- Estimate the volume of additional resources achievable through interventions to improve allocative and technical efficiencies;
- Provide evidence associated with the impact these additional resources can have on financial protection if allocated to cost-effective interventions.
