The overall objective of this study was to assess the purchasing function of the healthcare system in Burkina Faso.
Specifically, this involved :
analyze current institutional arrangements and organizational practices related to the purchasing function in Burkina Faso, along four dimensions: methods of payment for healthcare providers, definition of the care basket, information management and governance;
identify the strengths and weaknesses of the purchasing function in Burkina Faso’s healthcare system;
identify options for accelerating the transition to strategic purchasing in order to move towards CSU in view of future changes/reforms/evolutions in the field of strategic purchasing
