Health accounts are an essential tool for monitoring the implementation of the commitment made by the State and its technical and financial partners to provide adequate funding for health.
Health financing in the Republic of the Congo comes mainly from six (06) sources: (i) the Government and the decentralized structures of the State (Prefectures and Departments), which devote a substantial part of their annual budget to financing healthcare expenditure, (ii) bi- and multilateral partners who provide substantial financial support for health financing, (iii) Households, through the consumption of healthcare services, (iv) Companies, by covering their employees’ healthcare costs, (v) the insurance companies that cover their policyholders’ healthcare expenses, and finally (vi) national and international NGOs and foundations.
