This research article provides a comprehensive analysis of nearly eight years of data on public health expenditure, the national health strategy and other health policies which influence the provision of equitable healthcare in Jordan.
It looks at providing access to care with public financing in Jordan’s approach to providing social health insurance to move towards Universal Health Coverage. The country’s Health expenditure stands at 8.7% of its Gross Domestic Product (World Bank, 2017) is higher than most Middle-East and North-African countries.
However, a constantly increasing domestic population and the influx of Syrian refugees is challenging Jordan’s public health sector resources and the government is encouraged to enhance sustainable ways of raising funds for healthcare.
