This WHO report provides a concise summary of the Health Financing Progress Matrix assessment in Uganda, conducted as part of the mid-term review of the national health financing strategy.
The report was conducted using a highly participatory process, with the additional objective of building local health financing capacity. In addition to identifying strengths and weaknesses in Uganda’s health financing system, priority areas are highlighted to drive progress toward UHC; for example to address relatively high levels of catastrophic health spending. The findings of the assessment formed the basis of the mid-term review of Uganda’s 2014/15-2024/25 health financing strategy, to make necessary adjustments to improve health system performance.
