The Republic of Mali has instituted a compulsory health insurance scheme known as the Régime d’Assurance Maladie Universelle, or RAMU for short.
The universal health insurance scheme is based on the principles of solidarity, contribution, pooling of resources and risks, and third-party payment.
Beneficiaries must be covered without discrimination linked in particular to nationality, age, gender, religion, ethnicity, the nature of their activity, the level and nature of their income, medical history or area of residence in Mali.
