Malawi’s Health Sector Strategic Plan III (HSSP III) outlines strategies to build upon previous progress and accelerate towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) targets by 2030. Developed through extensive consultation, it focuses on improving health status, financial risk protection, and client satisfaction, despite inadequate healthcare resources. The plan encompasses nine priority areas:
- service delivery
- socio-economic determinants
- infrastructure and medical equipment
- human resources
- medical products and technology
- digital health
- research
- leadership
- and health financing
HSSP III further identifies eleven game-changing reforms, such as transitioning to integrated care platforms, strengthening the health workforce, and scaling up digital health systems.
