The June issue of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization features an article on a rapid health system performance assessment conducted in Oman. The assessment, led by a team of national health ministry staff and international experts, utilised the WHO framework to identify key inefficiencies and data gaps within Oman’s health system. The findings highlighted the need for extended health coverage, improved private sector governance, and enhanced financial investment in health education and data collection. This initial assessment not only provided crucial insights for the next 5-year policy cycle but also laid the groundwork for a more comprehensive future evaluation.
