This is the fourth Demographic and Health Survey with Multiple Indicators (EDSN-MICS IV), carried out from February to June 2012 by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the technical services of the Ministry of Public Health and the National STI/HIV/TB Reference Laboratory.
EDSN-MICS IV, initiated by the Government of Niger, is part of the global MEASURE DHS program, which aims to collect, analyze and disseminate population and family health data, evaluate the impact of implemented programs and plan new strategies for improving the health and well-being of the population. The survey was financed by the Government of Niger, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank through the Projet Démographique Multisectoriel (PRODEM), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), KFW through the Coordination Intersectorielle de Lutte contre le VIH/SIDA and the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, ICF International provided technical assistance under a service contract with INS.
