This is a memo of only 5 pages on the priority mechanisms of strategic purchasing of care that can be built through the operationalization of the SNFS for the CSU. It is the result of an empirical synthesis of current thinking on the concept of “strategic purchasing”; it was produced by the ST CSU (Dr Pierre Yaméogo) with technical support from Alexis Bigeard (WHO) and Dr Bart Callewaert (EU), and through informal exchanges with key players in the healthcare system. It’s not an official, validated document, but a draft that will benefit from the input of every reader.
The document was passed on to the team currently working on a guide to strategic purchasing in Burkina Faso, with the support of a national consultant (Dr SOURA Yorba).
