P4H’s exploration mission to Niger took place from July 17 to 21. It was conducted by the P4H coordinator, AFD, WHO and the World Bank. Other members of the network who participated upstream of the mission and/or on the mission itself were KfW, USAID, ILO and AECID.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health took ownership of the conclusions and appreciated them. From a technical point of view, the proposal amounts to an overhaul of the free health care system and a review of the architecture of a universal health insurance scheme, which in any case cannot be built around mutual insurance companies. Responsible cross-sector collaboration has been identified as a major challenge.
