Ensuring adequate access to quality health services, whether preventative or curative, is critical for a country to ensure that its population attain better health outcomes. In this context, universal health coverage (UHC), embedded within sustainable development goal 3.8 is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as all individuals and communities having access to any health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, without suffering financial hardship. A country’s Health financing arrangements influence progress on the attainment of the UHC goal. This report provides an overall synthesis of the status of the health financing landscape of Zambia as it works towards achieving UHC by 2030.
