Cameroon’s healthcare system is currently financed by four main sources: households, private companies, the State and external partners (bilateral and multilateral cooperation agencies and NGOs). The budget earmarked by the Finance Act is a major source of funding for the health sector. This budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Health represents only a small fraction of the overall financial effort made by the entire nation to ensure the existence and operation of the health sector, and is not sufficient to guarantee universal access to health services.
