Despite the implementation of public health insurance schemes for migrant workers in Thailand, coverage gap exists within this population. The M-FUND is a low-cost, not-for-profit health protection scheme designed specifically for migrant workers in Thailand, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health. Its goal is to address these gaps in health insurance coverage.
This study examines the impact of the M-FUND on health service utilization among migrant workers and their dependents. The findings indicate that M-FUND health microinsurance is positively associated with increased utilization of various health services. The study highlights the need for further research into health microinsurance schemes for migrants in different contexts, as well as their effects on underserved communities and sex-specific differences in health service utilization.
