The Ministry implements the first civil health insurance

The Civilian Insurance Programme (CIP) is a semi-autonomous fund managed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) providing 42% of Jordanians with formal health insurance. The CIP covers all civil servants and their dependents for care at MOH facilities, RMS facilities, university hospitals, and the private sector based on a grading system that depends on the civil servant’s level and years of service. The civil servants and their dependents can use services provided by health providers in the other public and private sectors in case of emergency or if the service is not available at the MOH. The CIP member’s contribution is collected directly by the government entities and sent to the CIP. Civil servants contribute 3% of their monthly salary to the CIP up to a maximum contribution of 30 Jordanian Dinars (about 42 USD) per month per member. (Source: UNICEF report)
