The role of national health insurance for achieving UHC in the Philippines: a mixed methods analysis

Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a key health policy goal in many countries and some form of National Health Insurance (NHI) is used to make progress towards UHC. The Philippines has had more than 50 years’ experience with social health insurance which is known now as PhilHealth. P4H commissioned a study to review major achievements under the PhilHealth in the Philippines. The study was completed and published in Journal of Global Health Action in May 2018.
