This Journal of Global Health publication aims to describe the opportunities within Jordanian health care system’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic during March-May, 2020. The authors look at five core dimensions of health care system performance: Equity, Quality, Responsiveness, Efficiency, and Resilience.
The analysis concludes that the Jordanian government could enhance its commitment and efforts for UHC in multiple ways. These include among others prioritizing mandatory insurance, creating a mechanism for decreasing fragmentation of resource pooling, investing strategically in human resources for health, and developing national treatment guidelines. These could all benefit from the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.
