66% of healthcare in Côte d'Ivoire is financed by domestic resources - P4H Network

66% of healthcare in Côte d’Ivoire is financed by domestic resources

Health in Côte d’Ivoire is 44% financed by external resources, announced the Minister in charge of health during a panel discussion organized on Tuesday May 28, 2024 by the Global Fund, the African Union, the GFF, the Pepfar, on the sidelines of the 77th World Health Assembly, in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to the Minister of Health, the regular structuring of healthcare funding in Côte d’Ivoire is reducing the contribution of development partners.

According to Pierre Dimba, Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, the health budget in Côte d’Ivoire is around 7%, far below the 15% recommended in the sub-region. However, he reveals, this budget is growing steadily, which is helping to reduce the share of household contributions to healthcare, which currently stands at less than 32%. The aim is to reach 20% for households.
