A quarter of Moldova’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19

A quarter of the population of the Republic of Moldova was immunized with the full scheme against COVID-19. The data were made public today by the leadership of the Ministry of Health.

Secretary of State Svetlana Nicolaescu mentioned that the highest immunization rate is in the capital, about 38%. In the last week, the number of immunized people has increased significantly, only on weekends 5693 doses of vaccine were administered.

According to the quoted source, this fact is due to the information campaign carried out by the ministry with the support of several institutions. “26 vaccination points have been opened in stores. There were also 16 mobile immunization points. Over the weekend, teams of volunteers activated in 170 localities who informed and mobilized the population to be vaccinated “, said Nicolaescu.

She said that in the last week the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus decreased by 15%, with 9,765 cases registered. One third of them were on the left bank of the Dniester and about 2,000 cases in the capital.

The MS data show that, at present, 3561 beds for COVID-19 patients are activated in hospitals in the country, and about 2900 are already full. 354 beds are activated in the intensive care units.
