With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the World Bank organized a round table titled “Health insurance in Tajikistan”. The event was held in capital city Dushanbe on November 1, 2021, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
One of the main speakers was the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection Gafur Mukhsinzoda. He briefly described the work carried out by the Ministry to expand the capacity of health insurance in the country.
Zin-Eddin El Idriss, leading economist in the field, doctor of economic sciences and a consultant from the World Bank, made a presentation on the implementation of health insurance, the experience of other countries in this area. The foreign representative noted that the development of the health sector depends on funding. As part of relevant reforms in the country, introduction of modern forms of financing is a priority for health sector, he added.
It was noted that in Tajikistan, thanks to the allocation of funds from the Government to the health sector, a large number of health care organizations were repaired, modern medical equipment acquired, ambulances purchased, and the number of citizens leaving abroad for medical care has declined.
