This review identified and provided information on the impact of different PFHI schemes on healthcare utilisation, Willingness to Pay and financial risk protection of the beneficiaries. The study suggests that various central and state schemes increased the utilisation of healthcare services by the beneficiaries, but there was no conclusive evidence for a reduction in financial risk protection of the beneficiaries. It also reported that although the participants were willing to pay more, the findings for WTP are inconclusive, because the evidence is generated from a single study and the focus of the insurance was limited.
