Representatives of the countries of the ORAS-CONHU Andean Health and Economics Committee met in Peru to discuss the financing of primary health care in the region.
The ORAS-CONHU Andean Health and Economics Committee is made up of representatives from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Delegates from the Ministries of Health and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO ) participated in the XII Andean Forum on Health and Economics on November 20 and 21, 2024 in the city of Lima, Peru. During the event, the progress of the Latin American Alliance for Primary Health Care (PHC) was presented.
The partnership is formed by PAHO, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank and supports countries in the expansion of PHC at the national, subnational and local levels. There was an exchange of significant experiences on the application, financing and evaluation of PHC, as well as international good practices on innovation and implementation of PHC, thus providing more tools for decision making. The topic of financing plays a very important role as a measure to guide the development of the PHC-based health system in the countries, under a vision of universal health.
