According to the Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan (on the photo), persons unvaccinated from COVID-19 will have to take a PCR test for coronavirus twice a month. This policy will affect at least school teachers and university professors, employees of government bodies, local governments, workers of restaurants, cafes and catering facilities, and a number of other organizations. The Ministry of Health explained that introducing such a policy is dictated by the need to protect the citizens amid a steady growth of SARS-CoV-2 infection cases in the region, including in the neighboring countries.
On August 12 after a Government meeting, Minister Avanesyan pointed out, that the Ministry of Health expected an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in the Fall due to the beginning of the academic year. The above-mentioned affected populations must accept this rule if they refused from vaccination, but had no contraindications. The Minister said that the coronavirus remained a serious challenge and everything needed to be done to protect the population.
In addition, the Minister noted that Armenia was taking advantage of tools used in many other countries and was introducing similar restriction. Such a policy tool was justified by a threat to public health, which existed in addition to the health of a particular person.
