As part of its commitment to improving long-term health outcomes for women and girls under the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020-2030, Australia’s Ministry of Health is earmarking $353.9 million over the next four years as part of the 2021-22 budget.
This will include, among other things, widening the scope of the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for women such as funding for cervical and breast cancer, endometriosis and reproductive health and listing new drugs PBS saving women costs that they have the bear themselves at the moment.
