BENIN: Government orders continuation of ANAM services

Extract from the minutes of the Council of Ministers of July 28, 2021.

Continuation of services provided by the Agence nationale de l’Assurance maladie (ANAM) and the Agence nationale de gestion de la gratuité de la césarienne (ANGC) by the Agence nationale de la Protection sociale (ANPS).

With a view to increasing access to basic social services for citizens, particularly the most disadvantaged, the government has set up the ” Assurance pour le Renforcement du Capital humain ” (ARCH) project, the pilot phase of which was successfully run by ANAM. This has affected tens of thousands of our compatriots considered to be extremely poor.

The implementation of this integrated strategy for the care of vulnerable populations required the creation of the National Agency for Social Protection to regulate the services to be offered.

However, pending completion of the recruitment process for the insurance company capable of providing the aforementioned services, the Board has authorized the secondment to ANPS of staff from the Agence nationale de l’Assurance maladie and the Agence nationale de gestion de la gratuité de la Césarienne.

This option is designed to ensure the continuity, for the benefit of beneficiaries, of the services currently offered by these two agencies.
