Burkina Faso: a health mutual enrolls a hundred sickle-cell-affected children

In the absence of a national program to combat sickle cell anemia, the ” Project to support the fight against sickle cell disease in Burkina Faso “The project was carried out by the consortium of the Ministry of Health, CID/Burkina and GIH, with financial support from the Pierre Fabre Foundation and AFD (Agence Française de Développement).

The hundred or so children selected will benefit from payment of their contribution for one year to the Lafi Baoré health mutual. This will entitle them to a 70% reduction in charges at health centers and pharmacies partnered with the mutual health insurance scheme. ” The annual contribution is 12,000 CFA francs, or 1,000 CFA francs a month, and this covers 70% of all consultations, examinations and pharmaceutical products, mainly essential generic medicines. “.

Payment of these contributions is made possible by the Pierre Fabre Foundation.
