On June 14, 2021, the NGO HELP initiated a workshop to advocate for the effectiveness of Universal Health Insurance (UHI) and the promotion of community watch throughout Burkina Faso. This workshop is part of the health sector policy support program, phase II (PAPSII), which meets the objectives of the national development framework, which is to promote the health of the population and accelerate the demographic transition.
This project has set up a community watch mechanism made up of 512 community players spread across the 33 communes and 476 villages of the Hauts-Bassins region. According to Drissa Traoré, focal point for the commune of Satiri, over 1,000 cases have been treated in the three years since the project was launched.
The aim of this workshop is not only to share the results achieved by the project, but also to advocate for an acceleration of the implementation of AMU, taking into account community watch on a national scale.
