Burkina Faso/Social protection: more needs to be done according to INSPIR

Social protection for all segments of the population is the mission that INPS!R has set itself through its advocacy work. After a year of activities, this civil society organization has paused to take stock.

According to Patrice PAMOUSSO, the CSO’s coordinator, INSP!R Burkina Fasohas made a number of advances in its advocacyfor social protection for the people of Burkina Faso, particularly the most vulnerable.

At a press conference, the organization highlighted the gradual operationalization of the universal health insurance scheme, the effective launch of the universal health insurance pilot phase, and the favorable opinion of the international labor standards advisory commissions on the ratification of certain International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions.

There are still challenges ahead in 2022…

These include the effective operationalization of universal health insurance and its extension to all regions of Burkina, the implementation of the WAEMU regulation on social mutuality, the effective ratification of certain ILO conventions and the implementation of the law banning the production, import, marketing and distribution of non-biodegradable packaging and waste.
