Burkina Faso’s deputies have unanimously adopted the bill authorizing ratification of the financing agreement for the construction of a radiotherapy center for cancer treatment in Bobo-Dioulasso. The aim is to enable the country of upright men to complete its healthcare system, which until now has lacked a center dedicated to cancer care in the Greater West region.
The first objective is to reduce the number of medical evacuations abroad, and to improve access to care for those who cannot afford to go abroad for treatment. Less expense, more fairness.
More generally, new investment in national health services is to be welcomed, strengthening the healthcare system must be based on a rationale of cost efficiency and multiple priorities (services to be prioritized, equity of access, etc.) This is why health infrastructure development plans and their implementation are fundamental, as is their coherence with the national health financing strategy.
