Every tourist who has visited the temples of Angkor knows the character: the tuk-tuk driver, a motorized scooter that doubles as a cab, is an integral part of the Cambodian picture postcard. What foreign visitors are less aware of is how far this profession can fall short of international “decent work” standards. Most drivers are not covered by any social security system, and have to pay out of their own pockets if they are taken to hospital, particularly in the event of a road accident. More information
