Cancers, hepatitis B and C, and psychiatric diseases will be diagnosed for free regardless of insurance status - P4H Network

Cancers, hepatitis B and C, and psychiatric diseases will be diagnosed for free regardless of insurance status

Diagnosis of socially significant diseases will be free, regardless of insurance status under the Mandatory Social Health Insurance (MSHI) system. After regulatory amendments, diagnostic services will cover suspected cases of cancer, chronic hepatitis B and C, and mental illnesses.

The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan released that diagnosis of socially significant diseases will become free of charge, regardless of insurance status under the Mandatory Health Insurance (MHI) system. This innovation will expand access to healthcare for this population group, enabling timely medical assistance and early detection of diseases.

Currently, uninsured citizens can only access diagnostic services for suspected cases of tuberculosis and HIV. However, after the necessary amendments to regulatory acts, diagnostic services will also be available for suspected cases of cancer, chronic hepatitis B and C, and mental illnesses.
