On June 25, the Board of Directors of the Caisse centrale de la mutualité sociale agricole (CCMSA) approved the annual report on the Agricultural Scheme’s Income and Expenses for 2025. The report is based on a number of studies designed to shed light on the public health issues facing the agricultural population.
Among the 2.9 million people insured under the agricultural health insurance scheme who receive care, the report states that one in three will be suffering from at least one pathology in 2022. Cardio-eurovascular disease, diabetes and cancer were the three pathologies affecting the greatest number of policyholders. Over the 2018-2021 period, an excess risk of suicidal behaviour was also observed within the agricultural scheme compared to all other schemes. In addition, medical deserts are more likely to affect patients in the agricultural scheme: 20.7% of them had reduced access to general practitioners (compared with 14.1% in the general population).
The report also contains 21 proposals. In terms of prevention, the MSA will integrate the “Génération sans carie” plan. It will also continue to roll out training in the detection of ill-being. It will promote the control of daily allowance expenditure for sickness and occupational injury risks, by identifying and supporting companies with atypical work stoppage volumes. Finally, in the fight against fraud, the agricultural scheme will continue its control actions, targeting hearing aid practitioners in particular.
