Chad launched the Covid-19 vaccination campaign on Friday, June 04, 2021, the day after the arrival of 200,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by the Chinese government. To reassure target populations of the reliability of the vaccines, the Minister of Public Health and National Solidarity, Dr Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, received the first dose, thus opening the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Chad. He was followed by the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Chad, Dr Jean Bosco Ndihokubwayo. The Covid-19 vaccination launch ceremony took place at N’Djaména’s “La Renaissance” hospital.
Priority will be given to healthcare personnel, people over 65, people with co-morbidities (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) and Chadian Hajj candidates. It is understood that vaccination against Covid-19 in Chad is free and voluntary.
