A meeting to present the final report on Chad’s national health accounts was held with the Minister of Public Health and National Solidarity on 01.02.2022.
The National Health Accounts for the year were drawn up by the technical departments of the Ministry of Public Health, with technical and financial support from WHO and other partners in the P4H network.
During the feedback meeting, the Ministry’s technicians explained the methodology adopted, the results obtained and the difficulties encountered, in particular the reluctance of certain players in the private health sector to provide the information requested.
In the recommendations, we were asked to continue the exercise by setting up a special department dedicated to national health accounts.
The WHO representative praised the work carried out and reassured the Ministry that his institution was ready to support the regular production of Chad’s national health accounts.
The Minister of Public Health and National Solidarity urged the technical team to deepen the research and data collection in order to integrate the aspect related to expenses linked to medical evacuations outside the country. He pointed out that the exercise is vital and paves the way for ongoing work to better control costs and allocate resources according to the priorities and demands of people throughout the country.
The Minister instructed the team to quickly set up a special department for the national accounts and to start producing the 2019 and 2020 national health accounts.
