After 5 years of universal health coverage in Senegal, the Saint-Louis region has 163,756 people enrolled in mutual health insurance schemes.
The program’s progress can also be seen in the financing of the regional healthcare system. It should be noted that in 2020, a total of 679 million 868 thousand 416 CFA francs was injected into the region’s healthcare structures to pay for free initiatives involving children under 5 years of age, women having undergone caesarean sections, people over 60 years of age under the Sesame Plan and dialysis.
In addition, subsidies granted to mutual health insurers in 2020 are estimated at 133 million 554 thousand 020 CFA francs, for a total of 813 million 422 thousand 436 CFA francs for the Saint-Louis region.
