CONGO: 6.5 billion FCFA for the Covid19 response

This project is part of the implementation of free healthcare for pregnant women and children, and fee waivers for the poorest households.

The two parliamentary chambers  of the Republic of Congo adopted  on July 27 in Brazzaville, the bill authorizing ratification of the additional financing agreement

of forty-two million seven hundred thousand euros (42,700,000) or around twenty-eight billion fifty-four million (28,054,000.00) CFA francs.

“This funding project aims to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by Covid-19 and to strengthen national health preparedness systems in Congo, in order to provide assistance in urgent efforts to respond to Covid-19 through early case detection, diagnostic capabilities, contact tracing.”

Marien Mobondzo Rapporteur for the National Assembly’s Economy, Finance and Budget Control Committee.

For his part, the Minister of Health and Population has announced sanctions against those responsible for proven bad practices in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was during the National Assembly’s adoption of the law on additional funding for the emergency response to the coronavirus.
