To address the issue of health financing, the Ministry of Health initiated a series of reflections which led to the choice of moving towards Universal Health Coverage, through equitable and optimal health financing capable of supporting health in a sustainable way.
With this in mind, the national health financing strategy to move towards universal health coverage (SNFCS) was drawn up in 2012 and updated in 2015. Its objectives are to i) increase the level of funding, ii) improve the use of resources, but also to iii) provide greater access to healthcare for the population, and iv) reduce the level of catastrophic expenditure.
Following the various stages that have enabled : i) setting up a TWG, ii) organizing working meetings, iii) carrying out a document review and examining the analysis matrix, iv) gathering initial responses to the analysis questions marking phase 1 of the process.
