Following the presidential elections in May 2012 and in line with the new team’s desire to make universal health coverage a national priority, a General Delegation for Social Protection and National Solidarity (DGPSN) directly attached to the Presidency of the Republic was created on November 16, 2012. It is responsible for steering and coordinating government action in the field of social protection, in particular universal health coverage and scholarships for vulnerable families.
