From November 10 to 12, 2021, some forty national players involved in health financing and social protection in health in Burundi met in the political capital Gitéga.
The meeting was divided into two parts: firstly, data consolidation and analysis of strengths and weaknesses to identify challenges; secondly, discussion of possible strategic options for universal health coverage in Burundi.
In their introductory remarks, the Assistant to the Minister of Public Health and the WHO Representative encouraged stakeholders to work together to advance the CSU agenda in Burundi. Several sectors, including health, social protection, finance, programs and development partners, took part in this work, which benefited from a good exchange between the players and an openness to participative collaboration.
