The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria joining the P4H Network
The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has expressed interest in becoming a member of the P4H Network, with focus on ‘thematic collaboration’. As a thematic collaboration member, the Global Fund is interested in linking its work to Health Financing and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) / Social Health Protection (SHP), creating synergies between HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and UHC/SHP; mother and child health care and UHC/SHP; as well as linking innovations and initiatives in global health to the P4H Network’s areas of work.
Through this collaboration, the Global Fund expects to build strong working relationship with the P4H Network and member countries, be involved in the dialogue for health financing landscape at country levels, and work together on areas of interest that are a priority for both organizations.
The Global Fund aims to collaborate with the P4H Network on the following areas of interest:
1. Mapping out current, relevant country-level health financing dialogue, and remaining updated on this dialogue.
2. The Global Fund is prioritizing increasing domestic financing and resource allocation for health, and is actively looking to collaborate with governments and other stakeholders for this. For domestic financing, the Global Fund is prioritizing 5 African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania and Malawi and will collaborate with P4H for these countries.
3. Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) is a key focus for the Global Fund. The Global Fund expects to collaborate with the P4H Network on country-level dialogue for HSS, and UHC/SHP.
4. In addition to priority countries, the Global Fund expects to collaborate with the P4H Network for mapping of areas of UHC/SHP, HSS, health financing and resource allocation, country’s national strategic health plans, information exchange and multi-sectoral collaboration within P4H overall country portfolio.
5. Facilitating dialogue between P4H and Global Fund specific teams (Country Teams, HSS/ Strategic Investment & Impact (SIID) and other teams), as and when need arises.
6. Information Network: Leveraging P4H Intranet which supports documents and data for their country portfolio, with inputs by other member organizations such as World Bank, BMZ, WHO, EU, AFD, UNFPA, and other multilateral institutions.
7. Attending P4H Open Forum meetings to collaborate with other members within P4H Network.
The Fundraising Strategy and Innovation Team (FSI) team, within Global Fund’s External Relations Division will be the focal point for the P4H Network for areas of collaboration.
