Ecuador experiences high growth in medical costs - P4H Network

Ecuador experiences high growth in medical costs

According to the WTW Global Medical Trends Survey 2025, Ecuador is among the six Latin American countries where medical costs have grown the fastest this past year. Going to a doctor’s appointment, buying medicines or taking out health insurance will be more expensive and will complicate family budgets.

In 2024, medical costs in Ecuador have experienced an increase that implies a greater impact on family budgets. The company WTW (Willis, Towers, Watson) periodically surveys medical expenses in 66 countries around the world. In the 2025 report, Ecuador is among the six countries with the highest rising medical expenses in the Latin American region.

The particular and atypical cases of countries such as Venezuela and Argentina (currently facing higher than normal inflation) are excluded from the analysis. With a projected 11% increase, Ecuador significantly outperforms countries such as Chile (5.6%) and Peru (8%).
