The Etablissements a Base Communautaires in Cote d’Ivoire have been a growing part of the Ivorian healthcare system for 30 years. Providing quality primary health care, they all participate in the state’s free health care programs, as well as the AMU.
Since the 1990s, community-based facilities have been an essential part of the healthcare system in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Their aim is to provide quality health care to community populations, and they are based on a model of public-private partnership with the state.
As private, not-for-profit establishments with an agreement with the Ministry of Health and Universal Coverage, they play an active role in national health policy. This includes free care for mother and child, free malaria treatment and universal health coverage.
