Eswatini COVID-19 response gets a boost

The Kingdom of Eswatini’s response to COVID-19 got a boost following the approval of US$5 million loan in additional financing on the 16th of April, 2021. The added funds were expected to assist the Government of Eswatini accelerate its ongoing efforts to purchase and deploy COVID-19 vaccines and strengthen its critical health systems. Along with a $3 million grant from the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Trust Fund, the total $8 million supports the ongoing drive to vaccinate 40% of the country’s 1.16 million population. Altogether the Government of Eswatini aims to vaccinate 80% of the population in a roll-out program which begun in March 2021.
