The costing of the Basic Essential Package of Health Services is a currently on-going exercise. It was led by the National Health Plan Implementation Unit (widely known as NIMU) of the Ministry of Health and Sports and supported by the WHO. At the invitation of NIMU, P4H provided technical support while learning more about the local context and local health systems. As the exercise partly includes data collection from the field, the team made field trips to township hospitals, station hospitals, rural health centers and sub-centers to collect data on workload, health system inputs at the facilities and the costs associated with them.
