Measures are being taken by the government to facilitate access to care for patients. The aim is to eliminate the disease by the end of 2030. How are these measures perceived by the local population, and what is their assessment of the measures put in place ? A citizen watch was conducted by the Access to Essential Medicines Network, the results of which have been made public.
The results show that drug shortages are the main problem when it comes to treating malaria patients.
For example, 360 patients (out of 2,104) say they were unable to obtain all the medicines on their prescription from the DMEGs in the health facilities.
They were obliged to go to private pharmacies to acquire the prescribed medicines. Some, due to lack of resources, have simply not been able to benefit from adequate treatment.
