Free health care: products found in illegal practices in Ouagadougou

District number 4 of Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso. Two nursing practices and a private health and social promotion center (CSPS) in the nets of the local Gendarmerie brigade. We are at the end of an investigation which has led to the arrest of nine people, including seven health workers. Of the seven agents, five were reselling products intended for free health care.

A search of one of the doctors’ surgeries led to the discovery of a large consignment of medicines intended for the free treatment of the population. The inventory of products taken by the health inspectors is estimated at over 4,000,000 CFA francs. At CSPS privé, the inventory of products in the pharmaceutical depot is estimated at around 1,301,759 CFA francs.

The case presented to the press is transferred to the public prosecutor’s office for further legal action.
