Free healthcare in Burkina Faso: Accountability at the heart of the policy

Investigations revealed that the products had been fraudulently taken from the district depot store for the benefit of a state-registered nurse in charge of a health and social promotion center. A total of five people have been arrested, including a health worker, a technician and three warehouse staff. These people were referred to the tribunal de grande instance (TGI) of Fada. They face prison sentences ranging from 1 to 5 years.

In all, four fraudulent exits were recorded in Gayéri, with products sold at 712,000 Fcfa. The commissioner took the opportunity to urge the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious cases to the police on 17, the gendarmerie on 16 or the alert center on 1010.
